The ÐÔÊ®°Ë.cc evaluates public schools and districts under state accountability requirements. In this section, you will find information about a district’s accreditation status, financial accountability and state accountability ratings and standards.

ÐÔÊ®°Ë.cc accredits public schools in Texas at the district level for grades K-12. The Accreditation Status, Standards, and Sanctions section of the Texas Administrative Code (TAC) states howÌýaccreditation statusesÌýwill be determined and assigned to school districts. Those statuses are defined asÌýAccredited, Accredited-Warned, Accredited-Probation,ÌýandÌýNot Accredited-Revoked. The TAC rules also establish accreditation standards and sanctions, including definitions, purpose and oversight appointments.

The state's schoolÌýfinancial accountabilityÌýrating system, known as theÌýSchool Financial Integrity Rating System of TexasÌý(FIRST), ensures thatÌýTexas publicÌýschools andÌýchartersÌýare held accountable for the quality of their financial management practices and that they improve those practices.

The Texas Legislature in 1993 enacted statutes that mandated the creation of the Texas public school accountability system to rate school districts and evaluate campuses.
